As a lighting designer, I am almost always aware of the light around me. I pay attention to the changes and how they make me feel. And since I'm on the road early during the school year, the sun is my companion as we follow the changes of the seasons.
One time I assigned my earth science students the task of observing and sketching the moon every night for a month during the winter when it was easier to see with the leaves down. I also completed the assignment of course and it was one of the best nature studies I've ever done. The moon is fascinating in every phase. Also, this looks like the beginnings of a book, Michelle!
I love writing in notebooks with a pen or pencil that feels good on the page. Just today, I found a way to organize my nature journals, and I'm so excited. Today I also met you. Thank you for your work.🌱
Katharine! Thank you for swooping in to read my first Substack offering! 😍 I truly appreciate your presence here. Mechanical pencils are my jam! I have never had neat handwriting and ink is messy for me. Couple that with a little streak of perfectionism and ink is a disaster. It was an obstacle to sustained journaling for me at first. Mechanical pencils and their generously renewing supply of graphite and eraser were a game changer many years ago. Our choice of tool is as important as a painter’s or a stone mason’s. And I always have a spare. ✨ So good to meet you.
What wonderful work, Michelle! So glad to see you’ve begun sharing your wisdom.
Thank you Denise! 💓
Beautiful and meaningful ✨ I love all the links and connections you share at the end to feed more curiosity 🕸️ so excited to follow along here 💖🕯️
This means so much to me Abby, 🥰 Thank you 😘❤️

Noemi, so good to see you here! 😍 I would guess that you were perceptive to the changes in light around you even before your work. 💖

It is amazing how simply stopping to attend, truly observing what is there around you, is so powerful. It tunes us.
Thanks for reading Gail! ❤️
